Show Me TheWay

From Us to You

Dear Emmaus Community,

On July 18th the Show Me The Way Board of Directors held a meeting (via zoom) to discuss the future of our beloved community.  By majority vote, three major decisions were reached.

First: there WILL be an outdoor gathering held Saturday, August 1st, at the Ebenezer United Methodist church (directions attached) starting at 11:30 a.m.

We know some will have reservations and question the board’s decision.  We ask that you be considerate of others, both those who choose to attend and those who do not.  Remember, God commanded us to love one another – judgement He reserved for Himself.

We will endeavor to stay as close as possible to our normal gathering routine.  There will be music, a fourth day speaker, and Holy Communion (prepackaged cups and wafers) will be offered.  However, the sharing of lunch will be altered to fit safety precautions.

Everyone is asked to provide their own food, drinks, utensils, etc.   No refrigeration or heating equipment will be provided.  Please bring your own chairs and tables if needed – shade, courtesy of beautiful large trees will be available.  Since this is an outdoor event, masks are optional, but social distancing is necessary.  Every effort will be made to live stream the gathering for those who participate from home.

Second:  A much more difficult decision, and again one which was done by majority vote, concerned how to proceed with the fall walks.  Much discussion and prayer went into this.  Sadly, due to the interior confinement and close proximity to others necessary to obtain the full meaning of an Emmaus experience, we will not be holding walks in October.

Third:  A much happier announcement, there will be walks held in March, 2021!  Really, that is only five months later than planned!  So please, EVERYONE, start praying and planning now to make this the most rewarding and productive set of walks ever held by our wonderful Show Me The Way community.

De Colores and Blessings to all,

Linda Moore, Community Board Chairperson
