Show Me TheWay
From Us to You
Dear Emmaus Community,
During the past year, we have had to live with one foot out the door and the other foot in midair, holding our breath, waiting for the world to show us the next step to take into a new normal.
We wondered, when will we be able to attend concerts, festivals, neighborhood block parties? Mostly, we wondered when will we be able to walk through the front doors of our church, sit in a pew next to one another, and sing our favorite hymns?
We wonder, will we ever be able to have another fifth Sunday potluck or summer VBS?
We shop online, do schoolwork online, have board meetings online, and we have been having church online. But it is certainly not the same without the fellowship in gathering, with one another, in community worship.
Watching church services on the computer is better than nothing but we have even missed the church building itself. No form of virtual reality will ever replace being in God`s house, all together as one! I miss everything about the church, the people, the hymns, even the feel of the pews.
Walk to Emmaus Communities have also been called to consider new ways to live in Christian action, to help each other, our church, and our neighborhood, to turn inward with ways to keep our communities going spiritually, physically and financially during this pandemic.
We are happy to announce that we are launching a new online fundraising initiative! This campaign is to raise awareness for our scholarship fund. Because COVID has kept us home we have had to cancel several gathering dates when we usually pass the basket for walk donations. Donations are down yet expenses still need to be paid.
One way to respond is by contributing to “PASS THE BASKET,” a fundraising initiative led by the Showway board.
As a member of our community, we would love to invite you to join us!
With the support of our Showway family, we have been able to accomplish so much over the years. So many pilgrims have turned their Christianity into Christian action; involved in their respective churches and neighborhoods. Many of our Showway disciples have gone into the ministry, have volunteered in various ministries, taught Sunday School, and organized VBS. Each of us has been a friend, made a friend, brought a friend to Christ. Together as an Emmaus family, we have made Christ’s love real in the world.
We need your support now! Showway can only achieve its goals with the assistance of generous donations from members of our community. Since our walks rely on the generosity of individuals like you, we ask you to consider a donation.
If you would like to make a gift, please visit our donation page.
I am writing this with much excitement for what God is doing in our lives, in the lives of others, and in the growth of our Show Me the Way Family! He is so faithful and powerful; I am in awe of Him.
Thank you so much for your support and hope to see you soon!
